Wensleydale Evangelical Church

Minister: Rev Noel Ramsey

Morning 11am

Evening  6pm

Regular ministry is provided by our Pastor, Noel Ramsey, who preaches most Sundays. This is supplemented by guest preachers

Our midweek meeting takes place on Wednesday at 07:30pm. We meet in the church and once a month in the home of one of our members.

The format of the meetings varies from pure prayer meeting to Question Time type meetings, when the members can put questions on Bible related topics to the church leaders.

The fellowship lunch was started before the church constituted in its own right. It takes place on the second Sunday of each month after the morning service. There is not a set menu, people bring a contribution and the food is shared between those attending. There is usually enough to go around and to cater for unexpected guests.

The Lunch takes place following the morning service on the second Sunday of the month from March to October

Our children's work has been running since 2002. We have about 6 to 8 youngsters who attend regularly. They enjoy games, memory verses and stories.

The FACT group is our meeting for secondary school age youngsters. Its name is an acronym for Food And Christian Teaching; a name thought up by one of the church’s young people.

Activities include: food (both eating and preparing), walks, games evenings, visits to other youth groups and many more.

The meetings started in April 2005 and the group meets fortnightly on a Friday evening. We currently have about 10 young people on the book.

For several years we ran a Coffee Morning in the church once a month on a Saturday morning.

The Coffee Morning is now run on an occasional basis throughout the year.

We offer shoppers free coffee and biscuits. We have tracts available and those running the Coffee Morning are always willing to speak with any who come in. There have been many useful conversations over a cup of coffee.

The Lunch and Listen Club is our longest running external meeting. It started in 2000 in Scotton and we maintained the link when the work moved to Leyburn.

It is designed for Senior citizens and we provide a simple lunch once a month in Scotton village hall, the meal is followed by a short talk on a Christian topic. The club currently meets on a Saturday lunchtime.

We run monthly services at two local Care Homes:

Kirkwood Hall

The meeting here takes place on the third Sunday of the month at 3pm.

Leeming Garth

The meeting is on the third Thursday of the month at 2pm.
